The evidence for this chapter comes from a number of distinguished archaeologists and historians. The aim of the chapter is to give an account of the technologies available to, and utilised by the sea-faring civilisations of pre-Columbian times. We focus primarily on the Egyptian, Chinese and Minoan civilisations.
